The guide specification for survey and design of urban railway line in China is still blank. The actual design often refers to the related specifications and parameter values of metro or the national railway. But in fact the metro or longitudinal design of urban railway, whose speed target is from 120km/h to 140km/h, is different from national railway. So "Metro Design" or "the design of railway line" cannot be referred to completely. Therefore, it is necessary to do the research about the key technology of city railway and formulate technical standards for main railway line in city.Based on the definition of the status of urban railway, according to the current research on the national railway, this paper analyze the technical standards of high-speed rail, national rail and subway to put forward the main technical standards that adapts the characteristics of urban rail lines. It also applies to Ningbo urban railway line project and selects a technology program that combines with computer simulation of integrated traction to verify the reasonableness of the selected technology.The main work of this paper is as follow:1) The characteristics of urban rail systems are studied, from the perspective of functional position, laying methods, traffic characteristics, traffic organization and operations management, vehicle selection, clearance and power supply systems and so on.2) The differences and similarities of national railway, high-speed rail and subway in the main technical standards are compared and analyzed to find the factors of major technical standards for urban railway line.3) The main technical standards for urban rail lines are studied and calculated in detail, such as station spacing, the minimum radius of circular curve, the radius of curve without transition curves, the length of circular curve and a straight line folder, transition curve length, line spacing, maximum slope, minimum slope length, vertical curve radius and promote the corresponding technical standards.4) According to the case study of Yuci line, the urban railway in Ningbo, different target speeds and draw programs are selected to calculate and analyze the results. Technical standards are selected and applied to engineering according to the calculation results.
