Under the regulation of market economy, the railway logistics center must transform development patterns, expand service scope and enhance service quality to get rid of the planned economy system caused by the long-term effects. In order to get the market opportunities, railway administrations have to strengthen infrastructure construction of railway logistics node and make the railway logistics center become a modern logistics system which provides railway transportation service as the main business. Railway logistics center is an important node of the railway logistics network so that its reasonable layout plays an important role in the service quality, operation efficiency and competitive advantage of the whole railway logistics system.By reading a large number of relevant literature and research achievements, it's pointed out that many scholars are using classic SLP method or building a mathematical model which can be calculated by intelligent algorithm to solve the facility layout problem. After that, the simulation software is used to simulate the process and the simulation results are used to be compared in order to judge the rationality of the layout scheme. But few scholars have applied the function of simulation software in the facility layout fully. So this paper directly calculate the layout optimization scheme and get an efficient and general layout method combined with eM-Plant simulation software under the theory of SLP.According to the principle of combination of theory and practice, this paper discusses and studies the layout of railway logistics center from the following aspects:(1) Analysis of the relevant background of the railway logistics center functional area layout scheme design, to explore the research status of the layout scheme design of the functional area of the railway logistics center, and points out the practical significance of this problem.(2) Introduces the related theory of the railway logistics center and simulation.(3) From the perspective of the micro layout, the content involved in the process of railway logistics center planning are integrated and the method to solve the layout planning problem is proposed. Including the division of the railway logistics center, list of the computational formulas or estimation methods of the functional areas, analysis of the operation process of railway logistics center and the calculation of the functional areas correlation, this paper established the distribution model and simulation model of the functional area of railway logistics center.(4) With the specific railway logistics center as the object of the research, the type and store number of the material stored in the railway logistics center are analyzed and counted,the functional areas of railway logistics center are divided, the number and scale of functionalareas are confirmed. The comprehensive correlation between functional areas is calculated under the certain stored goods type, quatity and goods flow between functional areas.(5) Using the eM-Plant simulation software to simulates and optimizes the case,including setting global variables, producing the from-to table, defining parts processing sequence table, writing the fetch strategy, leave strategy and the control strategy, optimizing the layout design, adjusting the gotten optimization layout model according to actual condition,then getting the last layout scheme for the railway logistics center.
