As the core of railway traction power supply system, Overhead Contact System(OCS) is applied to get electrical power for electric locomotive. Once the safety problems about the Overhead Contact System happened, the discontinued operations of railway line even severer security incidents will caused. As the operation speeds of electric locomotive and the density of railway lines increase, safe and reliable operation of Overhead Contact System will become more and more important. The secure state of the system can influenced by many factors, in which the tension of ropes is an important one. In addition, the tension can reflect the secure state of the Overhead Contact System. As a result, the research on the constant tension control system of Overhead Contact System is of great meaning.In this paper, the working principles of Overhead Contact System tension control system are analyzed. On the basis of this, the closed-loop control system whose main control unit is STC89C52 singlechip, execute component is AC servo motor, and feedback component is tension sensor is established.The control strategy in control system is analyzed and the algorithms of PID and Fuzzy-PID are designed and achieved. Some preferably results are obtained by modelin g and simulating. In this paper, the algorithm of PID is adopted based on some practical situations.The software part of tension controller mainly include main program, subprogram of A/D acquisition module, subprogram of D/A control module, some port subprogrames. Software debug of the whole system is completed.The tension control system is introduced in order to analyze the connection between the output signal of tension controller with the signal of servo power. In this case, the tension value can be regulated by controlling the servo motor and the research of constant tension control system can be realized.
