Rotary kiln is a kind of large-scale equipment, which is a multiple support and variable rigidity as well as heavy load of complex statically indeterminate system,complicated by force. Nowadays the design of rotary kiln mainly adopts the simplified calculation method.Meanwhile, it is also connected with previous experience to calculate, thus causing large error. Therefore, based on the theoretical estimation, this topic is linked with the finite element aided design of rotary kiln.through the finite element analysis, can improve the reliability of the design.There are two parts included in this topic:theoretical design and finite element analysis.Theoretical design part is mainly to determine the design scheme of rotary kiln,on the basis of the design scheme through the theoretical calculation is obtained Cylinder, roll ring, roller, gear to the size of the structure parameters, and the bearing,motor, reducer, coupling models to choose from.Finite element analysis mainly uses Pro/E modeling first and then take advantage of ANSYS to analyze.ANSYS analyzes models in three aspects, such as statics analysis, thermal-structure coupling analysis, and modal analysis.The main purpose of statics analysis is to research the Stress and deformation of rotary kiln, and to verify whether the choices of supporting positions are rational or not.The result of verification indicates that the choice of supporting position is of rationality. The purpose of thermal-structure coupling analysis is to compare with statics analysis to study the effect of temperature on stress and deformation and to check the strength and stiffness of main parts. Results show that the strength calculated can be ignored the temperature influence, but the stiffness calculation can't be ignored temperature influence. At the same time, it suggests that the strength and stiffness of cylinder and rolling ring meet their needs.Model analysis is to reach the minimun natural frequency values and possible resonance frequency range, for other dynamics research provides some necessary parameters.By the way of the combination of theoretical calculation and finite element, it could improve the reliability of rotary kiln's structure design, getting over the disadvantage of traditional theoretical calculation's pooraccuracy.
