In recent years, China has established a growing number of intelligent substations based on IEC61850 standard, IEC61850 standard has become the only communication standard of intelligent substation. At present, state grid is vigorously developing smart grid.And intelligent substation as an important part of smart grid, its stable operation has a vital role to the development of smart grid. However, new large-scale intelligent substation has brought great challenges to the operation and maintenance of substation. Since the test tools of traditional substation are based on electrical analogue, they can not be used in the new intelligent substations, this made intelligent substation into a "black box". Therefore, it has become an urgent problem in this field to develop a test tool that can be widely applied to intelligent substation. In this paper, after conducting research on the testing tools of intelligent substation on the market at home and abroad, using SBC 1788 as an embedded development platform, researched and developed a high performance handheld analyzer for network packet of intelligent substations.The work of this paper can be listed as follows:(1) IEC61850 standard of intelligent substation is studied in detail. At the same time the test tools of intelligent substation at home and abroad are repeatedly researched. Analysis points out that the testing and calibration of GOOSE and SMV messages is an urgent puzzle need to be solved for the operation and maintenance of intelligent substation.(2) This paper introduces the process layer of intelligent substation and the equipment in the process layer of intelligent substation. It mainly introduces the working principle and implementation of electronic transformer, merging unit, intelligent circuit breaker and intelligent terminal, which are already applied in the engineering.In addition, this paper focuses on the process layer network of intelligent substation. The transfer mechanism, the control model and the coding format of GOOSE and SMV, two types of communication services, are elaborated in this paper.(3) The working principle of Ethernet port and LCD on the embedded hardware platform are studied. Embedded operating system ?C/OS-? and embedded graphics support system ?C/GUI are migrated to SBC 1788. Tslib, a high performance touch screen calibration procedure, has been brought in the LCD calibration. At the same time, the basic principles of open source program (Tslib) are expounded.(4) Based on the window callback mechanism and the messagf handling mechanism of ?C/GUI a virtual keyboard is made as the human-machine interaction module which is a part of the handheld analyzer for network packet of intelligent substations. The function and the programming mentality of the virtual keyboard are introduced in detail.(5) A software system for handheld analyzer for network packet of intelligent substations is designed based on the embedded operating system, ?C/OS-?. And the semaphore request/release and global variables are used to achieve the message parsing and interactive displaying.This method has solved the contradiction of independence and unity between the various modules of system software.(6) Extensive tests are done to verify the accuracy and stability of the tools.
