The construction industry has become an important pillar of economic growth. However, the construction industry is not an intensive and efficient industry, and it is an extensive development industry, high energy consumption, high pollution and low efficiency. BIM(Building Information Modeling), which is based on three-dimensional digital technology, integrates various related engineering information data of the project, and it is a digital expression of physical and functional characteristics of the project. The emergence of BIM technology in the construction industry is another great creation following CAD, BIM is considered to be a good way to solve the low efficiency, high pollution and high energy consumption of the construction industry, however, due to various reasons. BIM is not widespread in China's construction industry.That this paper studys the factors of BIM application in the construction industry of China and puts forward some targeted suggestions, to promote the application of BIM in the construction industry, to solve the problem of low informatization level of the construction industry, and to push the construction industry going green and sustainable, is of great significance.59 independent factors without contain or affiliation relation were identified through numbers of literature review about BIM application factors at home and abroad, which hindered the application of BIM in the construction industry in China. Then combined with the experts' opinions, some outdated factors and some little impact factors were removed, besides, “operational difficulty of BIM software” was added. Finally, the paper extracted 38 factors hindering the application of BIM in China's construction industry,which were grouped into economy, technic, rule, organization, cognition and environment.Questionnaire was designed according to the 38 factors extracted which was combined the experts' opinions, and then conducted the questionnaire survey and obtain data, by means of SPSS software, through factor analysis nine main obstacles hindering the application of BIM in the construction industry in China were identified, and the main nine obstacles were software application barriers, rule obstacles, software function obstacles, enterprise management barriers, economic barriers, cognitive barriers, the implementation environmental barriers, demonstration environmental barriers and enterprise planning obstacles.However, the nine main obstacles did not exist in isolation, and there were some certain logical relationships among the nine main obstacles. According to the experts' judgement of the logical relationships among the nine main obstacles, the paper built the interpretive structure modeling of the nine main obstacles to find the hierarchy among these main factors and the root factor of these factors. Results showed that, corporate management barriers, economic barriers, implementation environmental barriers, cognitive barriers, and enterprise planning factors were the surface factors, demonstration environmental barriers, software application barriers, software function obstacles were the middle factors, and rule obstacles was the root factor.Finally, according to the result of the interpretive structure modeling of the nine main obstacles, this paper proposed some recommendations to promote the application of BIM in our construction industry.
