Gear automatic production line is the main trend of automobile gearbox gear processing technology because of high degree of automation, less manual intervention, safety and environmental friendliness. After the breakthrough in domestic automatic production line for gearbox gears, enhance of its performance and efficiency is becoming increasingly important.Quality inspection is an important part of quality control in automatic production line for gearbox gears. Production cost would increase if there are too many inpection stations, while it would be a wast of machine capability as noconforming workpiece cannot be detected in time if there are too many inpection stations. Sometimes, a reasonable inpection allocation is more effective than increasing the number of inpection stations in enhancing production line performance.This paper is based on car special seed fund project of basic scientific research in central colleges and universities named “performance analysis and optimization of automatic production line for gearbox gears”. This paper focuses on inspection allocation of automobile gear automatic production line, studys production line performance under different inspection allocations.Automobile gear automatic production line is introduced and optional two quality inpection method in the gear production line are stated. Dynamic characteristics of machine tool quality is analyzed and machine manufacturing quality state transition model is built based on workshop survey data. Production line key performance index is proposed, production line quality maintenance strategies and quality inspection station distribution scheme is introduced, the experiment for analyzing impact of inspection allocation on gear automatic production line key performance under different quality inspection method and quality maintenance is designed.A production line simulation model is established in simulation environment based on quality inspection method, quality maintenance, machine manufacturing quality state transition process and machine cycle time. Simulation of machine random breakdown and repair process, quality degradation process, quality maintenance strategy under sampling and full inspection are studied.Simulation experiment is carried out according to experiment plan. According to different combination of quality inspection method and maintenance strategies which are designed in the experiment plan, impact of inspection allocation on gear automatic production line key performance such as production rate of good parts, WIP, Yied and production cycle time is analyzed. The influence of the proposed quality control methods and existing methods for quality control on the production line Performance are compared, aiming to provide theoretical basis for enhance of performance in automobile gear automatic production line.
