Design Research About Landscape Regeneration Of The Binzhou Railway Bridge On Harbin Songhua River

Binzhou Railway Bridge is the first bridge using for railway transportation built above the Songhua River, which was accomplished in the period of development of Middle East Railway, and it has about 10 decades history. This railway bridge witnesses the development of Harbin City, and grows up companied by citizens, and more importantly bears the weight of the most precious history memories of Songhua Riverside. However, under different kinds of compressive effects, such as technique innovations, speed of trains improvements and railway line changes, the railway bridge owing single pair of rails has to declare to retire the historic stage of railway transportation. Nevertheless, the retired Binzhou Railway Bridge is not submerged in the historical river. And on the contrary, due to its great history background and special characteristics of industrial epoch, it is becoming a remarkable industrial heritage in Harbin, with abundant cultural values and social values, which can provide the essential references and pathways for discovering cultural connotations and unveiling histories of Harbin City. Simultaneously, acting as the first railway bridge of Middle East Railway, Binzhou Railway Bridge also has exhibited highly values of engineering.In this paper, based on the background of industrial heritage of Binzhou Railway Bridge landscape, we investigated the cultural connotations and heritage values of Middle East Railway in an integral view, and surveyed the distribution of bridges on the line of Middle East Railway. As a consequence, we summarized the landscape regenerated aspects of Binzhou Railway Bridge, and further, a design conception of landscape regeneration used to study the landscape of Binzhou Railway Bridge was put forward under the theoretic supports of culture ecology, industrial technique aesthetics and urban greenway.First of all, the historical backgrounds, current usage status, and landscape appearances of Binzhou Railway Bridge were carried out in a detailed way, and as a result, we got the evaluation of landscape regenerated values of Binzhou Railway Bridge; Furthermore, as for the three items of the Middle East Railway, industrial heritage and Binzhou Railway Bridge landscape, we respectively put forward ensuring reality of local culture, route line integrity and development sustainability to act as a precondition of cultural protection rules, concerning sites current situation, using building construction recycling and protecting industrial technique aesthetics to act as a precondition of place spirits rebuilding rules, and exhibiting seasonal distinctiveness, material economy and public participation behaviors to act as a precondition of territory design rules.The study of landscape design of Binzhou Railway Bridge can be sorted into three aspects: on the layer of sensibility, from integral culture expression of Middle East Railway to partial culture inheritance of Binzhou Railway, and then to public participation of detailed Binzhou Railway Bridge landscape, all of these consist of the expressive system of railway culture line; also on the layer of rationality, we set down to make function set and form design of space, including commemorative exhibition space, three-dimensional visit space and ecologicalizational leisure space; moreover in terms of the layer of humanity, from the point of carrying emotion, showing aesthetic feeling and pleasant impression, waste of objects could be recovered, reconstructed and reutilized, and the special symbols of railway bridge would also be extracted and exerted. In this way, adding the innovational design of landscape sketch would bring new vitality to the low-pitched and lumbersome industry landscape.The main aim of studying landscape regenerated design of Binzhou Railway Bridge is to realize railway culture route line integrity of Middle East Railway, and development rationality of landscape space of Binzhou Railway Bridge. Through this way, it can effectively prevent heritage landscape from value impairment, environment pollution, ecological destruction etc. during the landscape exploitation. Therefore, we hope in this way, we can provide an effective solution for problems that generated in the phase of form changing and function renewal of industrial heritage landscape design such as retired railway and railway bridge landscape.
