Russian Middle East Railway Construction Under The Influence Of Chinese Culture And Its Historical Value

The Middle East Railway which located in the Northeastern part of China, across three northeastern provinces, was built by technical staff from Tsarists Russia. Building railway in other country was the product of Russia’s territorial expansion and Asian hegemony. However, these negative impacts had fade away by the development of times, and the peaceful world leads us focus more on positive aspects. The construction of railway increases the population movement, and also connects northeastern part to other cities in China and foreign countries, which provides more opportunities for the growth of Northeast. Besides, more and more Russian come to China by Middle East Railway due to the demand of building and they make a significant contribution to the development of culture, education, entertainment and city construction of the cities that along this railway.The culture of Russian Emigrant which was developed by Harbin-centered area has influenced people’s life: food, language, dress, and plays the most important role to affect living space: the city layout by dividing the direction of railway; the progress of cities by the existence of stations around railway; the construction of cities by station-centered and the various building style by a mass of western architecture, they all make the northeastern part of China different from the other parts. Architecture, as a expression of Russian culture from material aspect, is highly valuable from the view of historical value, economics, society and culture. Hence, people should pay more attention to repair and protect the architecture, while the best way to protect it is the reasonable reusing. Strengthening the propaganda and reusing of architecture, and improving the protection work more practically are the basic starting point of this essay.
