This kind of “top to bottom” reconstruction and transformation homogenized several historic districts whose diversity of historical outlooks and social structure was ruined, during which particular social conflicts were created. With the increasing awareness of historic districts reservation and voluntary participation, governments and developers started valuing the reservation and utilization of material and cultural essences of historic districts, at the same time, the public began getting involved in the protective activities and non-governmental organizations to participate in the process of protecting and renovating of historic districts. However, limited as the ways of public participation and technological support, the public participation of historic districts reservation in China is still underdeveloped. Meanwhile, related researches mainly adopting measures of case analysis and experimental practice are lack of mechanism and platform researches on public participation. With popularization of equipment like Smartphone, people can collect information and intercommunication through new-media channels as We Chat, Weibo or other Apps. Subjects including governments, design institutions and developers are trying to invite the public participate in the historic culture reservation and district development by constructing new-media platforms.
