Since reform and opening up, air traffic flow is growing steadily with the rapid development of China civil aviation industry. Terminal area with high-density traffic flow and complex operation environment connects airport with en-route control airspace. However, its specific airspace structure and the approach to schedule aircraft based on First-Come-First-Served strategy result in airspace congestion and flight delays. So how to improve airspace resource utilization and alleviate flight delays is a problem of China's civil aviation transportation industry to solve urgently.Currently, civil aviation administration adopts the way of increasing investment in infrastructure to increase capacity at airports. But it is not the effective method because of huge investment and time-consuming. From this perspective, making the most efficient use of the current infrastructure through research on aircraft sequencing and scheduling not only can improve the utilization of the runway, terminal airspace resource, but also has significant theoretical and practical meaning. This paper analyzes aircraft sequencing problem via reference to existing researches and systems. Firstly, the concepts on terminal area and multi-runway operation are introduced. The aircraft sequencing problem is described based on the analysis of optimization objectives and constraints. Then, through the Branch-and-Bound algorithm, an optimal flight sequence is generated with the framework for dynamic sequencing based on Receding Horizon Control strategy. On the basis, this paper analyzes the effects of arrival and departure aircrafts. The sequencing problem of arrival and departure aircrafts is solved through simulated annealing algorithm from runway collaboration perspective. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithms is demonstrated using Shanghai Pudong international airport radar data as examples. After that, multi-runway aircraft collaborative sequencing system is developed on the basis of the above research.
