In recent years, the construction project gradually presents the characteristics of scale, complexity and integration. As a result, cost overrun problem is more and more serious, and the stand or fall of cost control has become a key indicator to measure the success or failure of the construction project. Construction project is a complicated system engineering, so engineering change is inevitable in the course of construction. Engineering change will not only have a direct impact on the cost, but also affect the quality, construction period, safety and other aspects of construction projects, and these effects will be further reflected in the impact on the cost. Obviously, engineering change has an important influence on cost, and it is the main reason of cost overrun. Therefore, from the perspective of cost management, research on the influence of engineering change on cost and the management strategy of reducing the influence of engineering change have important research value.This paper reviewed the research status of engineering change and its influence at home and abroad, and put forward the research task of combining source and path to study the impact of engineering change on cost. On this basis, paper defined the concept of engineering change and project cost, and expounded the theoretical basis of the research, including comprehensive cost management, dynamic cost management, stakeholder, synergetic theory.Based on relevant theories, this paper identified the factors of engineering change by comprehensively using the methods of literature study and expert interview, and the questionnaire survey method for further screening, ultimately determined 24 key factors of the engineering change. According to the project participants, 24 key factors of the engineering change can be divided into five types, respectively, for the construction factors, construction factors, survey and design factors, supervision factors and other factors.Upon the foundation of key factors of engineering change, the paper studied the theoretical model of the impact of engineering change on cost according to the stakeholder theory and literature research. The structural equation model was used to verify the theoretical model, and the influence of the engineering change on the cost was analyzed. Finally drew the following results: five kinds of key factors causes an effect to the cost by inducing engineering change, and factors also exist interaction;In addition, in five kinds of engineering change key factors, construction factors, survey design factors, construction factors on the cost impact is bigger, and the influence of other factors and supervision factors is relatively small.In order to reduce the impact of engineering change on cost, aiming at the structural equation model analysis results, this paper puts forward the collaborative management strategy of engineering change based on the theory of synergetic, and expounds the establishment of project change management mechanism from three parts of the organization synergy, the target collaboration and the BIM based collaborative channel. This mechanism provides reference for project managers to make change management, and it has positive significance to the realization of project cost target.
