| Since the distinction between the professional scopes of the engineer and the architect, usually, we define the professional profiles of architects and civil engineers in the way making the former as design leader and the latter as technological subordination. Misunderstanding and prejudice brought by deficient engineering knowledge prove to be constraint and restriction for architects to shape, meanwhile, unconditional compliance to irrational load-bearing form would cause enormous losses. Dispite of the curiosity and interest in each others’s profession, work and way of thinking, the deficiency of common language hinder the interplay and organic cooperation of technical and architectural aspects. Under such circumstances, the transformation of existing structure model based on morphological objective, could realise the integration of the two realm, shift the paradigm of structure after architecture over time, improve the weakness of existing structure model meanwhile expand the diversity of form, set up a way of communication between architect and the engineer, and gives a comprehensive and significant picture of how trying and yet inspiring the process of collaboration between the architect and the engineer can be.This dissertation begins with the implication of architectural and structural morphology, followed by valuation of the diverse and complex relation of this two concepts, and then analyze the evolution of skeleton-frame structure to abstract the displacement mechanism of structure models. By means of analysis and categories of cases with integrated form and structure, the thesis states the design method of interplay and organic cooperation of structural and architectural aspects by transformation of structure model in the case of Dom-ino Structure which is widespreadly used in modern buildings. |
