| Architecture space includes creating a building space on the physical property, at the same time; they are carriers of different life “events” occurred, the stage showing different way of life. All the time affect human behavior and psychology, so building space that has the material properties will convey the appropriate genius loci. Recalling the ancient Chinese architecture everywhere embodies etiquette and ceremonial ritual to express the spirit of traditional Chinese culture in the pursuit of Confucianism and strong political enlightenment function. “Etiquette” is the ideology of human beings, “ceremonial ritual” is the practice of human behavior, and China is the ceremonies country since ancient times, in-depth understanding of Chinese traditional etiquette and ceremonial ritual will become a very important part on the architectural study about the environment and human beings behavior.Paper uses the theoretical analysis, field trips, multi-disciplinary research methods from sociology, anthropology, ethics angles to define and study the relationship on “etiquette”, “ceremonial ritual” and space as well as its impact to human psychological and behavior, on the theoretical basis of the architecture environment psychology and behavioral studies, for the introduction of contemporary American sociologist Randall Collins “Interaction Ritual chain” theory, in particular with regard to the ceremony in which the resulting Discussions on the emotional energy, supporting the thesis about the ceremony; and Carsten Harris elaborated on building ethics – Architecture should not be reduced to just have aesthetic value or technical value, it should be the interpretation of lifestyle, it should help express some common spirit. This inspired me about the deep-going thinking on the “etiquette” and ethics. In the third chapter introduces the architectural typology to classify traditional Chinese ritual space research, and summed up some features on the traditional Chinese ritual space.In the final part of the paper, I summarizes the principles of traditional Chinese ritual space design, and try to make some evaluation on today’s architectural design based on these principles, finally proposed that ritual space should play an important role for improving beings lifestyle. |
