In recent years, Building Information Modelling is warmly received by domestic construction industry. The enterprise, academic and government respectively from different levels promote BIM application, research and policy formulation. BIM technology has been applied in some key projects, and achieved some results, is regarded as “the second revolutionary of construction”. But the introduction of new technology is bound to make the uncertainty of the project risk factors increased, leading to mistakes in decision-making. Therefore, in the early introduction of BIM technology, fully aware of the risk factors of BIM applications, and assessing the risk, will help to promote the further application of BIM technology. This research selects “risk assessment of BIM application in the construction project” to carry on the research of this problem, has the very important practical significance.This research firstly introduces related research of BIM application risk and obstacles in the domestic and foreign country, the application effect and problems of 10 typical BIM projects in China are sorted out, to determine the initial risk factors of BIM application in construction project. Then according to the expert interview correction method to correct the initial identification factors. A total of 29 risk factors are screened out for BIM applications.Secondly, this research designs a questionnaire based on the 29 risk factors to do a questionnaire survey of BIM related persons. According to the 132 valid questionnaires, using factor analysis to aggregate these 29 factors, to establish risk assessment index system for BIM application, which contains five types of risk as the first grade indexes, including technical risk, management risk, human resource risk, economic risk and industry environment risk, and this risk includes 26 risk factors as second grade indexes.Thirdly, due to the problem that the lack of BIM application risk factors related degree, data base construction project, combined with BIM application of the risk assessment process of gray character, then analysis and comparison of the commonly used risk evaluation methods are implemented. This research determines to combine the network level analysis with grey evaluation method as the risk assessment method, establishing risk evaluation model of BIM application based on G-ANP, the weight assignment is more scientific and reasonable, evaluation results are more objective.Finally, the grey network evaluation model is applied to the risk asseement of a terminal BIM application, and the evaluation results are analysised, providing an important reference for decision-making and management of the project, initially validating the feasibility and effectiveness of the method.
