With the development of the economy, the education industry has been booming these years. Among them, early childhood education has gained the most attention. In recen t years, accidents happen from time to time. How to protect children and to provide a safe educational environment have become a pressing issue. As the kindergarten is the main place for children to play and study, the safety of the kindergarten should be list ed as a priority. Over the years, the facilities and building standards of kindergartens h ave improved a lot, but when it comes to outdoors environment, protection method an d some fine details of building construction, problems abound. It is believed that the k indergarten should be designed based on the physiological and psychological characte ristics of early children.This paper includes four parts. The first part introduces the basic theory and why it is so important to build a safe kindergarten. The research method of this paper draws on the experience of existing theory and practice of other countries. The second part is ab out the physiological and psychological characteristics of early children, and how that should be considered into the design of the kindergarten. The third part is an analysis based on a field research on many kindergartens in Shouguang. Then, it takes Shougu ang Century Kindergarten as a specific example. The fourth part is the main part of thi s paper. This part proposes a general solution and way of thinking as how to build a sa fe kindergarten. The end is a summary of the whole paper.Although there are existing rules and standards regarding the design of kindergartens, they lack flexibility and exclusivity, and when it comes to some specific details of des igning, the rules and standards are missing. Also, the theories and practices in this are a are inconsistent for a long time. This paper intends to propose a system for the safe design of kindergartens, based on existing theories and the specific problems of the 29 kindergartens in Shouguang.
