In this paper,based on the design project of designing new vending machines between Vend Motion Company and Design Group of Industrial Design in Tianjin University,aimed to solve the current problem of the unreasonable interactive mode of existing vending machines and the unsatisfied user experience which lead to the obstacle of vending machines’ development in China,the service design theories which were extended from Management to Product Design were used to design a new intelligent automatic vending system,with the systematic perspective and the design method of depth participation of users and service providers,to improve the interactive mode and raise the usability of the automatic vending system.During the research,the trend of development of automatic vending machines was explored.Then the user’s shopping psychology,shopping behaviors and habits were studied.Then,Factor Analysis was used to define the function demands of the target users.Based on this,the design of Vending Motion intelligent automatic vending system and the system’s service position,including functional position,business model,profit model etc.were carried out.In the stage of product design,with the "user-centered" ideology,the Interactive Model of Vending Cloud APP and Vending Machine were designed.According to them,the corresponding flow charts,wireframes and detailed interfaces were designed.Finally,the simulation system of the intelligent vending system was tested.And compared with the existing test results of the existing vending machines,the usability of the intelligent automatic vending system was much higher than that of the existing vending machines.It also proves the validity and feasibility of the service design theories applied to the design of vending machines and other self-service terminals.
