The stone arch bridge is an old bridge exist in China, and most of the construction age; with the increase of service life, increase traffic, and even overloaded vehicles, some stone arch bridge under load is far more than the design load, and bridge the environmental changes, material degradation and the structure of disease or injury, most of the stone arch bridge carrying capacity shortage phenomenon. In order to ensure the safety operation of the stone arch bridge and to extend its safe service life as far as possible, the safety assessment and health inspection of the stone arch bridge should be carried out.Based on the related literature review and collation, based on the previous research and application, summarizes the construction of stone arch bridge structure type, structural characteristics, application situation and common diseases, introduces the safety evaluation of bridges at home and abroad on the current situation and development trend, put forward the main detection methods of stone arch bridge, and it pointed out the key content and the key of the stone arch bridge detection, and discusses the safety assessment method of stone arch bridge. At last, combined with the engineering example of Double Dragon Bridge, the safety evaluation of stone arch bridge is carried out by using the method of standard method and structural analysis method. In the analysis by using finite element method, focusing on the Double Dragon Bridge people in full load and partial load, vehicle load and the seismic load of the four kinds of load conditions of main arch stress are analyzed in detail, the bearing capacity of stone arch bridge were calculated, according to the analysis conclusion of the safety assessment of stone arch bridge, combining the two methods to improve the reliability of the assessment.
