The Ancient City Of Suzhou District Old House Private Space Public Remake Research

The ancient district of Suzhou where reserves many historical houses has a history of over 2500 years,.As time goes on,the ancient district of Suzhou transforms the closed city into open city,attracting a large number of people to work?settle and tour.An increasing number of population need massive public space,which leads to requirement of original public space in ancient district permeating into the surrounding space.Meanwhile,many traditional houses are facing with survival dilemma.How to protect it effectively and renovate it properly is the continuous exploratory issue in academia.Renovating a part of private space of the conventional houses in ancient district into public space is a one of the ways to deserve researching.Based on the studying theory of historical architecture protection and the relati on between historical architecture and urban area,author put forward the tendency of the original public space in ancient district permeating into the private space of old houses,this support public transformation of old house private space.At the sa me time,the writer researches old houses which faces difficulties,interviews citizen,s tudies the characterization and function of private space of old houses and so we c an understand its predicament and clear its advantages.On the above basis,strategies and methods are suggested in the article for the public renovating of old houses' private space,combing with the renovating practice of old houses at Niujiaxiang in t he ancient city of Suzhou,further studying the tendency of the original public spac e in ancient district permeating into the old houses' private space.
