Research On Regional Culture Landscape In Chengdu Historical Blocks

Since the rise of Modernism, city’s regional characteristics has been influenced seriously and even damaged, which makes many cities all the same. So how to make cities revert back to their unique origin becomes an important part of the city construction. The historical blocks, as a carrier of city’s regional culture, have been reformed completely different in the high speed city construction process that searching only for economic development and efficiency. The research on regional culture landscape of these traditional blocks is extremely urgent.This paper uses the methods of literature analysis, field investigation and comparison. First of all, read literature all over the world about the historic blocks and regional culture landscape, understanding the research progress of them. On this basis, find out the goal and meaning of this study. Pick out four typical blocks as the research object. They are Wenshu Monastery, Kuanzhai Alley, Dacisi block. Then, analyze and summarize the historical evolution of Chengdu and the formation process of the three major historical blocks, summed up the landscape characteristics of the regional cultural in Chengdu, and provide the basis for the field investigation and analysis. Then, field investigation of those three historical blocks will be conducted. Using observation method to research these three blocks in detail in whole space, building layout, folk activity from Material and intangible heritage, and characteristic sketch four aspects. Finally, according to the results of the survey and summarize the content, proposed the historical block planning strategy based on regional culture, to provide reference for the planning and protection of the historical block in the future.The main results are as follows:(1) the regional culture landscape of Chengdu historical blocks includes two parts, Material and intangible heritage. The main features of meterial are:On the one hand, from the perspective of natural geography, the regional cultures of Chengdu historical blocks are mainly embodied in the water culture, the protection of ancient and famous trees and the introduction of agrestic plants. From the perspective of the spatial pattern, the Chengdu historical blocks have their traditional pattern of street distribution, spacial axis that is rich of intension, and the local materials, which shows unique regional culture. On the other hand, the main features of intangible heritage are:When it comes to the religious belief, Chengdu historical blocks kept the old temples and develop the religious activities here. About the social life, Chengdu historical blocks retains the old hall and natives, it always organise regular activities. Folk Arts and Crafts are vivid, too. All kinds of special performance, handmade shops and the sketchs with process features in Chengdu historical blocks shows the regional folk culture and technological characteristics Vividly here.(2) The expression techniques of regional culture landscape in Chengdu historical blocks are visual display, reservation of former residence, use of local materials, use of agrestic plants, imitation of regional culture characteristics and regional culture intention extraction.(3) In planning of the future historical block, planners need to master the culture essence of blocks, reserve the material elements of blocks, the introduction of local material elements and focus on people’s participation.
