Building Information Modeling(BIM)is another important application of computer technology in the construction field,following the CAD(Computer Aided Design),known as information revolution of the construction industry.In recent years,BIM has caused great concern in the construction industry and has been widely used.BIM,as a revolutionary technology that promotes green building development,improves the level of information of the construction industry,promotes smart city construction,achieves construction industry transformation and upgrading,is bound to bring enormous economic and social benefits to construction industry.BIM is the inevitable outcome that information technology develops to a higher stage in the construction field.It is the deepening of the application on the basis of CAD technology and technological revolution.It is the only way of green carbon and intelligence construction.Its advance has been reached a consensus in the industry.The connotation and characteristics of building information modeling(BIM),BIM application in green buildings are introduced.The design process and collaborative design are compared between Three-dimensional design and the traditional two-dimensional design.The application and promotion of BIM in the design institutes is described.Information and data exchange between the commonly used steel structure design software(MIDAS Gen and 3D3S)and BIM software structure is introduced.Navisworks is used to conduct bridleways collision detection and analysis to introduce the practical application of its collaborative design within professional.Navisworks 4D construction simulation is conducted to introduce the practical application of BIM technology in construction simulation.The applications of BIM technology in the structural design are demonstrated and analyzed.The paper provides a reference for future development and application of BIM technology.Under normal circumstances,traditional curtain wall is fixed between the upper and lower floors.It is fixed on one of the floors as gravity hanging point,another as lateral supporting point.But for those curtain walls whose dead weight is very large,they need to be supported by both upper and lower structures.But the path of force transfer of the whole structure is unclear.Under such curtain wall connection condition,the whole structure is split.A substructure analysis method is put forward to reveal the path of force transfer between steel roof substructure and curtain wall substructure.Simplified models of substructures are obtained.Considering that curtain walls are probably out of work under ultimate limit state and the curtain wall supporting may act an important role on the roof structure,failure analysis on connections of the curtain wall is conducted.It is concluded that the failure of the supporting of the curtain wall didn't have a devastating impact on the roof structure.
