Practice And Consideration Of Protect And Reuse Of Shanghai Historical Architectures

Historic buildings are of a wide range of values,which witness the development process of social,economic and culture during history.Researches on the preservation and reuse of such historic buildings in modern times include divers aspects.In this paper,we investigated the current situation of historic buildings in modern times in China and Shanghai firstly.According to the experiences on development and utilizing of Chinese or overseas modern historic buildings,we studied the architectural style,character,layout,protection and reuse of modern historic buildings in Shanghai.For better protection and reuse,we discussed the current and potential problems that involved,and advanced design principles and methods for effective protection.Take conservation and renovation project of No.1 building of Donghu hotel in Shanghai for instance,we tested our theories in a practical example.
