The historical block,as the place satisfying the behavioral activities of humans,is not just the collection of architecture heritages of one certain historical fragment but is dynamic in its development. It is featured with "diachronism",in the long-term development process, left with the historical rudiment under the reconstruction in different periods, such as the modem architectures built after the 1950s.Some of the "modern architectures" have accommodated the public activities during their existence time and carried the collective memories of the public more or less, which have certain humanistic attributes and social value. Many of them have never reached their physical lives, however, most of them are hardly to avoid being removed which not only destroys the"aggradational" context of the historical block and the memories of the local people but also causes resource waste and environmental pollution. Therefore,we need to look at the existing modern architectures in the historical block more reasonably.Since the disposal of these existing modern architectures is a complex project, judging whether they are worthy of retaining to formulating specific and adaptive reusing plan are considered carefully. The paper has explored the method of comprehensive evaluation and design strategy based on a renovation project in Nanputing Block of Nanjing.
