With the continuous development of building technology,BIM technology has been widely applied in engineering design and construction.In recent years,urbanization rate rise rapidly in China,the pace of development of urban construction projects of various types is accelerated,resulting in the increasing development speed of all kinds of municipal infrastructure construction including gas.However,at present,in the design and construction of gas pipeline engineering,the basic two-dimensional CAD technology is still generiousely used.In this paper,based on the detailed discussion of the theory,characteristics and advantages of BIM technology,the application of BIM technology in the construction and municipal industry and the demand for BIM technology in gas industry are investigated.The application of BIM technology in the field of gas is analyzed and predicted by using the theory of fuzzy mathematics.Then the application prospect of BIM technology in gas pipeline engineering is studied and discussed in combination with the specific engineering cases.The research results can provide reference to the gas industry for the application of BIM technology in the design,construction,operation and maintenance stages.
