On Urban Road Landscape Design From The Perspective Of Contextualization

Road landscape,as an important part of the city’s overall landscape,plays an important role in protecting and improving urban ecological environment,beautifying the city as well as shaping the city image.Studies on this topic have very positive significance for both ecology and urban design science in addition to landscape design.The study of road landscape design is more common at home and abroad,but research on introducing linguistic concept “contextualization” into the road landscape design is very few.Therefore,this paper attempts to combine the two to make an interdisciplinary exploration.The purpose of this study is to emphasize that road landscape design is not an independent one,but a design of the area with considering the overall environment context instead.This paper first put forward the development of road landscape design by studying the developing process and theoretical background of road design,and then extends the linguistic notion of “contextualization” into landscape architecture study,by which the general methods of “contextualized” road landscape design are proposed.And then through the real case study,the logic behind the form and the contextualized operation strategy is carefully analyzed and illustrated,followed by proposing the urban landscape contextualization process,the application of urban road contextualization principles and the application of urban road contextualization.By the study of the main aspects of road landscape design,it can help us to summarize the contextualized design strategy of the road,and be beneficial for establishing the systematic research of road landscape design.Finally,taking the landscape design of Tao Xi West Road in Shucheng County as an example,this paper attempts to discuss how the expression strategy of contextualization is applied to the concrete landscape greening landscape design practice.This study is an interdisciplinary exploration,involving linguistics and landscape architecture.The paper comes up with contextual landscape design strategy,and testifies its use through real cases.It is hoped that the article will be as guidance for road landscape design from the perspective of contextualization,as well as providing reference for relevant research and practice.
