| As a new type of gear transmission system, the face gear is widely used in the aerospace field with many advantages including simple and compact structure, light quality, high transmission ratio, and torque splitting. But it has not been applied to nuclear industry. As a wearing part, the requirements of maintenance of the gear used in nuclear equipment are harsh since the gear working environment is whth high radioactivity, strong erosion and high temperature. Taking the advantages of the face gear, a large size face gear is developed for the nuclear equipment. Based on the structural parameters of designed theoretical face gear, the tooth contact analysis and load tooth contact analysis are taken under different operating conditions by modifying the gear. The influences of modification and corrosion on the sensitivity of the installing errors are analyzed and the reasonable structural parameters are obtained.By contrasting and analyzing the geometric performance, bearing capability, strength properties and dynamics performance of different modified face gears, a face gear with reasonable inner and outer radii is obtained. It is found that the sensitivity of the installing errors increases with the profile modification, while decreases with the bidirectional modification. The face gear with bidirectional modification is convenient for installing and maintaining. Furthermore, the sensitivity of the installing errors to meshing performance decreases observably when the face of gear raises 40 a m in the direction of the center of the face width. The strength of the gear pair is enough under different conditions. In the case of the gear face corroded 2mm in all directions equably with the profile modification and axial modification, the geometric, meshing and strength performance can meet the design requirements. The max bending stress of the tooth root is much less than the premising stress and the contact stress is less than a third of the premising stress. The gear with profile modification has steady transmission and less of vibration and shock, while the gear with bidirectional modification has less-stable transmission and more vibration and shock. But the rotational speed of the designed face gear is low, so this disadvantage can be ignored.With less sensitivity of the installing errors when face gear is bidirectional modified,which is the simulation results of this paper,and other advantages,the face gear can be applied to nuclear power industry and nuclear fuel reprocessing industry. |
