Highway is an important branch of transportation system.The construction and development of highway is bound to promote the economy continue to leap.China's overall economic strength has improved and the resulting outcome is increasing traffic demand pressures,particularly in the rapid economic development regions of the eastern coastal,where the highway has reached a saturation of traffic volume,even beyond the design capacity and appear congestion phenomenon,that leads to the access quality and service levels of highway continue to decline.In order to accommodate the growing traffic,highway construction has become a trend of expansion,that can conserve land and construction cost.As a highway expansion project,its cost is relatively high.With the development of the concept of sustainable development and environmental protection,how to choose the best construction design scientifically and rationally and maximize comprehensive benefits have become the important research project.This article takes the highway expansion design as research target and aims to solve the problem of comparing and selecting design.It departs from the background of the present highway expansion stage,the present situation and characteristics,then the differences in design between the expansion and new construction project are analyzed and the evaluation index database is established combined with expansion engineering design principles,design characteristics and design essentials in this article.Next,by screening of indicators,the evaluation index system of expansion design is constructed on the basis of expansion characteristics,scheme design principles and index design principles,besides,the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model of design is established on the basis of AHP-entropy method.By comprehensive evaluating and selecting the design according to the multiple indicator,which includes technology,engineering implementation,traffic operation,environment and economy,the final selected result is consistent with the actual decision-making.As the basis of Guang-Qing highway expansion project in Guangdong province,the analysis and study of selection issues in highway expansion design have been performed from the perspective of considering construction costs,environmental coordination,traffic capacity and sustainable development.The results showed that the evaluation index system of expansion design constructed in this article can meet the needs of practical applications,in addition,the comprehensive evaluation model and methods used in the highway expansion project design are reasonable,which can provide theoretical guidance when investment decision-makers choose expansion design scheme.
