Overhead transmission lines are prone to be malfunctioned due to the distribution of geographical wide, the difficulty of online monitoring, and the complexity of passing through the terrain. As a key component of the power grid system, overhead transmission lines must ensure that its power transmission capacity is able to protect the safety and reliability of the entire power grid system operation since the date of commissioning. The power companies have never stopped on the transmission Line safety maintenance and repair. It is essential to master the line running state before the maintenance and repair. Because of the transmission line in the course of the operation of the various states, it will cause different operating conditions of the various potential factors, to a certain extent, which threaten the safe operation of the entire line. Therefore, it is important to carry out the transmission line operation status assessment to guide the power maintenance and improve the operational reliability of the power system in the matter of theoretical and engineering application value. The assessment of the running status of the overhead transmission line is closely related to whether the line can run regularly for a long time. The efficiency of the evaluation and the accuracy of the results have a great influence on the subsequent maintenance.In order to evaluate the running status of the transmission line, this paper researches the state evaluation of the overhead transmission line which is based on the characteristics of the overhead transmission line and the set pair analysis method.(1)on the basis of the transmission line organization and the type of failure in operation,the operation mode of the overhead transmission line is analyzed, and the operation method of screening, deleting,merging and adjusting the language of the main fault is applied to the screening of the evaluation index of the overhead transmission line, which finally constructed the evaluation index system based on the overhead transmission line components.(2)The quantitative and the qualitative indexes of the actual operation are taken by the method of relative deterioration to deal with it. The operation status of the index is divided, then,reaching a conclusion that the calculation method of each class membership function is obtained.(3)The Mathematical model of state evaluation of overhead transmission lines established through the method of set pair analysis, combined with the analytic hierarchy process and the entropy method, which combined with the weight of the way.Finally, the validity and feasibility of the evaluation method of the overhead transmission line, which is based on the set pair analysis method, are verified by an example. The evaluation method of the overhead transmission line meets the needs of the requirements of the overall performance of the transmission line in the actual operation, helping make a decision about the implementation of monitoring or suspension maintenance and providing an accurate and reliable estimate new method for the transmission line status maintenance and status evaluation.
