Building energy consumption have raised concerns among researchers and engineers with the improvement of industry development as well as people’s life standard.Energy consumption of heating,ventilation and air conditioning(HVAC)constitutes a great proportion of building energy consumption,which means there would be great potential for energy saving and a crucial point of energy conservation in China.Office buildings have characteristics like large amount,regular schemes and wildly-used central AC system,which make office buildings happen to be an indispensable part in the study of building energy consumption.As an important economic center of southwest China,Sichuan Province has a multiple and complex climate including severe cold,cold,mild,hot-summer and cold-winter climatic zones.Energy strategies implemented may have rather different effects on each different climate zone.Therefore,it is an essential trend to analyse energy simulation and energy saving strategies of office buildings in different climates in Sichuan Province.Based on DeST-c building energy simulation program,a general model of an office building is studied as an example to run simulations and analyse results.The simulation tests are carried out mainly on Chengdu representing hot summer and cold winter zone,comparing with Hongyuan and Xichang,on behalf of severe cold and mild climate zones respectively.This paper considers heating and cooling load characteristics of each climatic zone through hourly dynamic load and natural indoor temperature simulations.In terms of building envelope measures as external wall thermal insulation,glazing material,window-wall ratio,shading and HVAC system energy saving measures as VAV,variable fresh air plan,air-air energy recovery equipment,building energy consumption simulation and energy conservation are analyzed.Lastly,instead of conventional HVAC system,a hybrid energy system that mainly consists of renewable energy is conducted through a self-made program by our research group which is capable of environmental friendly and energy saving analysis.The result shows that there are totally different load characteristics among these three typical climate zones.For example,increasing the exterior wall insulation can have a negative effect on Xichang dominated by cold load of summer,in the meantime a positive effect on Hongyuan dominated by heat load of winter,which indicates that it is necessary to consider the double effects of energy saving strategies.As for HVAC system in the building model,the simulations indicate that VAV system can acquire an energy saving rate at 25% than the reference model,while variable fresh air plan can reduce the HVAC energy consumption by 14%.Besides,using heat recovery equipment can obtain an average reduction of 17%(sensible heat recovery)and 24%(total heat recovery)of HVAC system,respectively.Overall,it is necessary to simulate energy consumption for different regions and building types when designing building conservations.
