Recent years,the increasing throughput of container port by year,and the growing size of ships,the rising costs tend to rise and other factors to container,making terminal transforms and upgrades towards intelligent and effective direction,in order to achieve efficient operation of container port.The layout of container and terminal handling technology is the key factors influencing the efficiency of the design in the practical automated container terminal.In the actual situation,handling technology and layout should rely on the actual situation when a terminal is designed,in order to achieve the comprehensive utilization of port resources and transportation system,and to meet the high demand from the port ship loading and unloading port.Therefore,it is very important for the future design and implementation of a new automated terminal concept system to study the important parameters and layout of the loading and unloading process.Container Terminals with dual-rail transport Trolley and Hollow track layout(CTTH)are novel concept.The paper designs a simulation model for which was developed with a CTTH simulation system which is based on stochastic Petri nets.This model contains many subsystems,including ship berthing subsystem,loading and unloading ship system,yard gate linkage subsystem.This paper discusses the simulation modeling of ship arriving in ports,multi-line back-shaped arrangement,bank operation,high-low-speed driving operation,and puts forward the realization method of simulation.The paper designs container terminal simulation system for double-track trolley and elevated traffic,and analyze the performance of the new system,as well as the number of cars,speed,elevated traffic speed on the impact of operating indicators.Experiments succeed in showing that the new system has higher operating efficiency than the automatic rail gantry crane system.What's more,considering quay-crane equipment,yard layout and transport trolley equipment,25 layout simulation models for container terminals with dual-rail transport trolley and hollow track layout were developed using Plant Simulation platform.The operational efficiency and parameter effects of the new automated container terminal are analyzed with the 25 developed simulation models.The simulation results show that proper quay-crane equipment benefits the terminal service level and saves 8% average service time of ships,and that proper yard depth and block width layout improves the average efficiency of quay-cranes by more than 5.6%,and the proper transport trolley equipment greatly enhances the throughput ability of rear terminal and decreases the storage space rate by more than 16%.Experiments reveal that Plant simulation models are capable of analyzing the performance of the new container terminals with dual-rail transport trolley and hollow track layout,and that the optimization layout benefits the operation performance,such as 1-2 yard block width and 4-6 transport trolley equipment.
