Remanufacturing is a series of activities based on decommissioned mechanical products.Its energy-saving,material-saving,and environmentally friendly properties contribute to high environmental,economical,and social benefits.However,the heavy damage and low recycle rate lead to the difficulties of remanufacturing and the complexity of technological processes and mass production.Proactive remanufacturing has distinctive advantages,i.e.,it can restore the same batch of products in the same time period.Therefore,it is increasingly urgent to investigate on the optional timing decision-making method for mechanical product remanufacturing.Considering the environmental and economical impacts in multiple stages such as initial manufacturing,service,recycling,remanufacturing,and recommission,the present study proposed the optional timing decision-making method for mechanical remanufacturing.The environmental impacts of energy and material consumption in the whole processes are calculated by process-based life cycle assessment(LCA)method.The energy and material consumption are converted into five sorts of environmental indicators including global warming potential(GWP),acidification potential(AP),eutrophication potential(EP),Chinese resource depletion potential(CADP),and respirable inorganic compounds(RI).Additionally,on the basis of social willingness to pay compensation,dimension unity is conducted with the economic impact.The life cycle cost analysis(LCC)method is used to analyze the cost of the whole processes.The effects of environment and economy are simulated by Monte Carlo method,and the least square method is used to fit the curve of multiple samples.The present study takes a diesel-truck engine as an illustrative example to analyze and determine the optional timing of its proactive remanufacturing.Based on the whole life cycle process of proactive remanufacturing,the life cycle is divided into four stages: the initial production and recovery,service,remanufacturing,and recommission.Then,the optional timing and the economic benefit for engine active remanufacturing are calculated and analyzed,respectively.The results indicate that the active remanufacturing period is4.03~4.16 years when the economic benefit is most remarkable.Both environmental and economical influences are considered in this model,and the feasibility and validity of the model are verified,which provides the scientific basis and theoretical support for the production operation.
