In the context of urban transformation, energy shortage, environmental degradation and the lack of historical culture,as the product of the industrial age,the old industrial buildings has been unable to adapt to the development and demand of the information age.How to deal with the legacy of old industrial buildings become important to our urgent Topic.Shanxi Province which has its large-scale,large quantity and large scale industrial buildings,as one of the important energy cities in China, has a certain degree of difficulty in its protection and reuse. In the past, there are two problems in the theoretical research on the protection and reuse of old industrial buildings in Shanxi :Firstly,on the transformation of Shanxi old industrial building, the awareness and concept is relatively backward, the transformation theory is relatively backward, too.Today, the old industrial building renovation is commomplace in Beijing,Shanghai,Shenzhen and other first-tier cities. However,Shanxi's old industrial building renovation has been stagnant. In the past, scholars' research theories also focused on the protection of Shanxi cultural relics andShanxi industrial heritage. But its not related to theories such as space transformation and energy conservation optimization research;Secondly, the object of study is narrow.the previous study only limited to modern industrial buildings or "one five" "second five" period of industrial buildings, the idle and abandoned modern industrial buildings was not mentioned. They did not stand on a macro perspective Comprehensive and in-depth analysis. This study object covers modern industrial buildings to modern industrial buildings,to make up for the the theory of the lack of research on old industrial building in Shanxi. In view of the above two existing problems, this paper puts forward the concept of "adaptive re-use",that is,the functional life of the old industrial buildings has disappeared, the material life is still existing. We should give the construction new functions,to meet the needs of the times and extend the cycle of industrial buildings. The research content of this paper is divided into five parts:The first part, the research background, the purpose, the content and the method; The second part, the basic research, through the relevant domestic and foreign related theories and research results, this paper lay the foundation for the study; The third part, the paper based on the existing theories both at home and abroad, combined and investigated the development of industrialbuildings in Shanxi and the existing situation of old industrial buildings in Shanxi, summed up the Characteristics of old industrial buildings. In the fourth part,Discussion on the Method of Reconsidering the Adaptation of Old Industrial Buildings.the macroscopic aspect,In view of these localization characteristics, the paper combined with the value evaluation index and creatively constructed "Shanxi old industrial building value evaluation system" and put forward "the level of protection and recycling countermeasures".Finally,it obtained three types of old industrial form: Artifacts old industrial buildings, protection and reuse of old industrial buildings,a large number of general old industrial buildings; From micro-aspects,respectively,the paper give the above three types of old industrial buildings detailed use of the strategy in the external environment, external space, internal space and energy-saving aspects. The fifth part, three specific cases are selected to analyze and validate the above three types of old industrial buildings. At last, this paper put forward the existing problems of the existing cases and Suggestions for Improvement in order to provide reference and help to the practical reuse of the old industrial buildings in Shanxi.
