Simple additional sunshades constructed by self are wide exist above residences entrances and openings in urban and rural areas in Xiamen in humid climate areas,which are of different shapes and colors and great amounts.The overall disorder of the sunshades seriously affects the urban and rural landscape.The folk additional sunshades with the main purpose of sun shading have a spontaneous imitation and long-term adherence,and gained wide recognition of them.In order to understand the ecological effect of folk additional sunshades in residences in Xiamen on improving the indoor thermal environment and dredge up the modern design language to adapt regional climate,the paper studied from four aspects: field investigation,physical measurement,computer software simulation and integration strategy and subjective and objective data showed that the additional shading can effectively improve indoor thermal comfort,and also provided inspiration and reference for the climate design of residential buildings in hot areas.Specifically,four aspects of the study are as follows:(1)Field investigation: Researched the folk additional sunshades in representative research areas by field investigation and collected sunshades according to different locations and material classification statistics.Survey data showed that the opening additional sunshades(86.4%)got the highest penetration rate with great research value and the window openings(85.1%)and courtyard openings(68.6%)were the main kind of sunshades,metal sheet(93.7%)were the main kind of materials.Shading took horizontal shading as the principal mode and structure was simple without fixed size.According to the questionnaire survey conducted among residents,the study showed that the main purpose of the additional sunshades is sunshade,followed by rain and at the same time,the results of the survey data are verified.(2)Physical measurement: The measurement selected typical houses with the doors and windows toward the south and west with and without additional sunshades to test the indoor thermal environment,comparative analyzed the improvement of indoor thermal environment by the physical parameters such as air temperature,mean radiant temperature,air humidity,building surface temperature and comfort PMV.The test results showed that the door and window opening additional sunshades toward south and west have a significant effect on improving the indoor thermal environment and indoor thermal comfort of human body.(3)Computer software simulation: Took Design Builder software to establish the 3D house model,and simulated the openings with or without additional sunshades according to the actual situation.By comparing the hourly air temperature and PMV value in the simulation results,the anarchically results were in agreement with the measured results.Through the establishment of the ideal model,it simulated the additional sunshades of the patio and balcony entrance with different materials,the results showed that the additional shading of patio and balcony entrance has a significant effect on reducing indoor temperature and improving indoor thermal environment.In the investigation and statistics of all the materials,metal sheet got the best effect on improving the indoor thermal environment,followed by canvas shed.At the same time,the influence of material transmission ratio on indoor cooling effect was also verified,the smaller the transmission ratio,the better the cooling effect.(4)Integration strategy: Finally,it summarized the experience and deficiency of the folk additional sunshades,and tried to sum up the strategy of the integration of additional sunshades at the entrance of the cave combined with the practice of the modern entrance hole shading,the integration of functions,integration of forms,taking into account the ventilation and lighting,the use of flexible and variable shading,organic combination of local materials and modern materials,and connected the sunshade frame with the main body and the additional part organically,integrated the pore size of the structure with each function,the doors and windows level visor overhangs experience in length from 0.3 to 0.5 meters,shaped into a climate buffer with architecture.
