With the energy shortage and environmental pollution becoming more and more serious, energy saving and emission reduction have attracted extensive attention both at home and abroad. In the construction of asphalt pavement, asphalt mixing equipment consumes a great deal of energy, and has a great influence on resources and environment. In order to reduce the energy consumption of asphalt mixing equipment, the performance characteristics of continuous mixing equipment are studied in this paper. In this paper, the working principle of intermittent and continuous mixing plant is analyzed, and their main assembly such as rotary dryer, stirrer and metering system are compared and analyzed. The factors influencing the measurement accuracy were studied by analyzing the asphalt, powder and aggregate metering system of the continuous mixing plant, and the improved method was proposed and verified by the experiment. The continuous heating system is studied, and the working principle of the double drum dryer is analyzed. The thermal efficiency and heat loss of the drying drum are calculated and compared with the thermal efficiency of the intermittent mixing equipment. The thermal efficiency of the double drum and the heat utilization rate is higher than the intermittent mixing equipment, and double drum mixing equipment has a great advantage in the energy saving. Finally, the paper analyzes and studies the power consumption of the continuous asphalt mixing equipment, and compares the power consumption of the intermittent mixing equipment with the theoretical production.Under the same production capacity, the continuous mixing equipment can save about 20% of the power consumption than the intermittent mixing equipment.
