Resrarch On The Gardens Gateway Creatione In Suzhou During Ming And Qing Dynasties

The gateway creation for gardens in Suzhou,especially those in city proper,play a vital role on gardening.It is the beginning of garden tour,and the border which separating the garden from the external environment.But,there is no systematic analysis about it so far.Based on the organization and compressing the historical materials,the study is try to revealing the development process of the gatewaying Suzhou garden during this period.First,the gateway of the gardens in city proper can be divided into three categories from the angel of the different needs of users.including the outer doorway,inner doorway and the shortcut,they show the features of the respective.The outer doorway is an important part of the gardening,so that it is the focus of this article.Secondly,three fictitious gardens in different period are selected to analyzing the structure of the gateway in Suzhou garden.The gateway can be split into five parts:the extrnal environment,outer door,wall,path and barriers,which show difference in detail but the overall composition remains stable.Throughout the Ming and Qing Dynasties,the gateway in Suzhou garden signs of the feature in different period has three detail characteristics,the change of the form of the door and the material of the wall,the popularity and disappearance of the hedge,the spring up of the hill,stone and architecture in the garden after the mid-Ming dynasty.
