Steel bridge has the advantages of thin plate thickness and constant load,and it is not only widely used in large span situations such as cross river crossing,but also more and more applications in urban interchange with difficult conditions.However,the steel deck pavement,especially the large-span orthotropic steel bridge deck pavement technology,has always been a difficult problem internationally.Epoxy resin concrete is a new pavement material which refers to a polymer concrete uses epoxy resin as binder,graded gravel as aggregate.Researchers are not very clearly about the material design and construction technology since insufficient researches have been conducted on this kind of polymer concrete applied in bridge deck pavement.At the same time,due to technical barriers,high cost and many other factors,the application research on epoxy resin in the bridge deck pavement is still in the initial stage.Consequently,there is no national standards or industry norms to guide the actual work.This paper was aimed to provide a composition design method for epoxy resin binder and mixture,as well as construction technology.Firstly,polyurethane was imposed to manufacture the high strength and high toughness modified epoxy resin.Orthogonal experimental method was used to optimize the modified epoxy resin by detecting variety of additives.Tensile and bending resistance was the mainly guideposts in the binder design considering the working condition of steel bridge deck pavement.Secondly,the self-developed adhesive was used as the binder to design the epoxy resin concrete.Characteristics of steel bridge deck pavement and epoxy resin binder were fully considered in the mix design of epoxy concrete.Volume control method and performance control method was used to decide the optimum gradation and the optimum epoxy resin content.Then,the basic road performance of epoxy concrete were studied including the curing characteristics,bonding properties,water damage resistance,crack resistance,shear resistance and viscoelastic properties.A imported commercial resin binder wasused for comparative analysis.The results show that compared with imported materials,the self developed epoxy concrete products showed a satisfactory performance with good water stability,high temperature stability,and high bending resistance,which can meet the requirements of steel bridge deck pavement.Finally,the epoxy resin concrete construction technology is studied through the outdoor paving experiment and the steel bridge test section.At last,the epoxy resin concrete construction guideline was concluded from those experimental research.
