Rural Landscape Planning In The Application Of Geodesign Of Comparison And Evaluation

This essay aims to promote the application of Geodesign in domestic rural area as well as the design itself for more experts to notice such method.The author applies Geodesign methodology to conducting landscape planning and assessment in Yangze Village,Jian'ou City,Fujian Province to illustrate the feasibility of the method.In the design process,GIS will be incorporated to analyze and overlay visual landscapes,land covers and other resources under the frame of Geodesign so as to work out a conceptual plan.Then Analytical Hierarchy Process(AHP)will be used to assess the Geodesign method by inviting experts to rate such method and the other two methods and work out their indicator and overall evaluation.Applying the Geodesign method to the landscape planning in Yangze Village and inviting experts to analyze the weights of five indicators,namely localisms,improvement on native residents,design cycle,development cost and diversity of participants as well as the possible performance of each indicator through all three methods,it is concluded that a good rural landscape planning method should prioritize localism followed by improvement on native residents,development cost,diversity of participants and design cycle.Besides,the weighted value of Geodesign method based on overall assessment ranks the second among the three methods and the weighted values of two indicators,namely improvement on native residents and diversity of participants ranks the highest among the five indicators.The results demonstrate Geodesign method's better performance in terms of public engagement and cross-disciplinary coordination and indicate how to continuously improve such method.It's the first time when Geodesign method is ever practically applied in China's rural area;meanwhile,the three-hierarchy analytical method is not applied to every aspects of the assessment while decision support function,a preliminarily set function is adopted instead to assess the method itself after weighted values are calculated through AHP.Thus the auxiliary judgment in the indicators on the performance of different schemes.
