| In the process of industrial design,graphic thinking is the designer’s thinking through questions in freehand sketching.The process of thinking is the process of alternation of various abstract concepts and forms,and epiphany is the result of alternation.The emergence of insight makes designers from blurred state to clear and clear state,and helps designers to quickly grasp the key problems and produce new solutions.Therefore,the study of insight is a further exploration of graphic thinking,which will help designers to accomplish the design task efficiently.This paper will take experimental methods,combined with behavior and brain science,to analyze the behavioral performance and the coherence between different electrode signals in the brain,and further understand the cognitive phenomenon of design epiphany.The application of the research method is compared with the difference of brain activity of designers with different design experience in the process of Epiphany,and the behavior of their differences is discussed,and the novice is guided by the conclusion to make it enter the design industry faster.The first chapter introduces the significance of insight and the related research of insight in the process of graphic thinking,and finds that due to the uncertainty and fuzziness in the design process,it has made less research in the field of design.But in the design process,especially in the graphic thinking process,Epiphany helps designers break the deadlock and promote the design process with the inspiration flashing way,so that designers can accomplish the design tasks more efficiently.Therefore,the study of insight is a further exploration of the cognitive behavior of the design.Before this,understanding the relevant theoretical concepts will contribute to subsequent research.The second chapter introduces the concept of EEG coherence and the different cognitive activities reflected by coherence coefficient,as well as the application of EEG coherence in cognitive research and related theoretical discussions for insight research.EEG technology has many research methods,for the insight,most scholars to explain the psychology of insight,and to explore the method of ERP and EEG is analyzed in the Epiphany,all the original data acquisition based on the analysis of the data is more comprehensive,relative to the ERP signal containing more information.According to the reading and research of related literature,EEG coherence performance is explored to explore the difference of electrode signal activity in different brain regions of different cognitive activities under the same frequency band.This method can be used to interpret epiphany from qualitative and quantitative level.Therefore,the focus of this chapter is to clarify the application of coherence in cognitive research,and to put forward the research hypothesis of EEG coherence for insight.The third chapter mainly through the experimental method,combined with behavioral analysis results corresponding to EEG data to explore the design of insight EEG coherence.This chapter is divided into four parts.The first part is the design of the experiment and the collection of data.The experiment includes the experimental data,the experimental process and the selection of the subjects.The experiment will collect both the behavior data and the EEG signal data at the same time.Behavior data is the extraction of insight behavior to determine the occurrence of insight,as the basis for the processing of EEG data.The acquisition of electroencephalogram(EEG)signal is the basis of the late EEG traceability and calculation of the coherence value.The second part is to determine the point of insight behavior.In order to determine the emergence of insight,all the behaviors in the design process are analyzed and interpreted through the backtracking and the design of the behavior.The third part will be traced to the insight.The determination of the behavior point corresponds to the EEG data to obtain the brain area activated during the design process.In the fourth part,we analyze the coherence of the electrode signals in the activated brain area by tracing the source results,and explore the processing differences of brain cognition in the process of epiphany.In order to understand the cognitive phenomenon of epiphany in depth.The fourth chapter is a comparative experimental application of the theory and methods studied in the first three chapters.With different designers as the research object,analysis of the design experience and cognitive level,professional knowledge of the differences and design experiments to obtain data and EEG data,and associated differences in interpretation on the behavior and EEG coherence differences,and draw the conclusion.The fifth chapter is the summary and Prospect of this study.The core of this study is to explore the insight phenomenon in the design cognition through the EEG technology.This paper explores and studies the cognitive behavior of insight uncertainty from two aspects: qualitative and quantitative analysis.This is an attempt to explore an insight analysis method in the field of industrial design combined with the knowledge of psychology,and has gained some conclusions.But for the study of design epiphany,we need more in-depth discussion.We hope that in future research,this experiment process,research methods and research results can serve as a reference for more researchers to continue to explore the design of insight related cognitive activities. |
