Analysis And Evaluation Of Forest Resources Quality In Yiyang County

Forest resources is the material basis of forestry development, and an important part of the Earth's ecosystem. Mastering the quantity and quality of forest resources has important theoretical and practical significanc for making decision,improving forest management level and guiding forest classification management of forestry department. In this paper, forest resource inventory data of 2009 year in Yiyang county of Jiangxi province was used to analyze its current situation and evaluate forest resource quality.And the evaluation results were used to analyze to identify its limiting factor of restraining to improve the quality, and the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions, the main conclusions were as follows:(1) In Yiyang county, the forest coverage was 59.4%, area of forestland with trees was 87 606.5 hectare, which was 86.64% of the forest area. The natural forests accounted obvious advantages, which was 71.80% of forestland with trees. Stand volume accounted for stumpage of 91.06%, forest volume per unit area of 41.6 m3.hm-2. Trees' age structure was irrational, proportion of young and middle-aged forests almost to 96.90%. Proportion of public benefical forest and commercial forest was close to 1:1. Major forest types were broadleaf forest and masson pine forest,and the proportion of both was 66.78%.(2) Based on forest productivity,forest structure,forest health and stability of forest,the evaluation index system of forest resources quality was set up, including 13 indices of 4 hierarchies. Index-weight was determined by analytical hierarchy process,using synthetical index method, forest resource quality in Yiyang county was evaluated. The results showed that, quality index of forest resources in Yiyang county was 0.455, belonged to the medium level. But the rate of diseases and insect pests, fire incidence, soil humus thickness were in poor level, they were limiting factors of forest resources quality in Yiyang county.(3)Techniques of improving forest productivity, optimizin g forest structure,improving forest health and enhancing stability of forest was put forward to improve the quality of forest resources. Suggestion was gave of continuing to deepen the reform of forestry, developing of non-public ownership forestry, increasing policy support,broadening forestry construction funding channels, strengthening forest science and technology,training professionals, adhering to forestry law and strengthening the protection of forest resources.
