Clinic Diagnosis And Treatment Of Canine Pyometra

Canine pyometra is one of the clinic reproduction disease. This thesis makes the research on canine suffered by the pyometra from the 22 cases in terms of nutritional status, epidemiology, hematology, ultrasound imaging, pathological slices of uterine ovarian tissue, intrauterine microbial nuturing and drug sensitive test. It provides the reliable theoretical basis on clinical diagnosis of canine pyometra.It is demonstrated that the medical history of canine pyometra demonstrates that more than 6 years old female dogs are prone to suffer this disease. The canines often have symptom of depression, polydipsia polyuria, vomiting, diarrhea, the swell of abdominal girth, vulva redness, vaginal discharge, the rising and falling of the temperature and the mucous membrane getting pale.Hematology report demonstrates that the sick canines generally have leukocytosis, which is 3 times of normal value. Neutrophile granulocyte and the infantile hemameba white has been increased, which is up to more than 80%. The canines which have a long state of an illness will get anaemia. The leukopenia in septicemia canines have been decreased. Only a few canines have the normal hegogram. Most sick canines have the kidney and the liver dysfunction in different levels. The blood urea nitrogen(BUN) is increased, that is more than 12 mmol/L.Lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) is greater than 328iu/l and AST is greater than 41iu/l.The bilirubin increases 6 times than the normal value, which shows the kidney and liver of the sick canines have been damaged in some way.The status,location and size of uterus empyema usually can be observed by B ultrasonic. B ultrasound images of pathological pyometra are anechoic long strip dark liquid area.The pathological section of disease tissue in affected canines show that there is no sign of tumor growth in pathological section. There are persistent corpus luteum or polycystic follicles in ovary. Some affected canines have the visible granular cells tumor or papillary adenoma in ovary and uterus usually suffers from the cystic endometrial hyperplasia and endometritis. It is common that the latching type canines have thinner uterine wall, endometrial atrophy or ulcer. Open type canines have cystic endometrial hyperplasia and endometritis. Pyometra of the latching type canines are more serious than the open type.In 22 cases, all disease have been analyzed and extracted to bacteria, including the womb normal bacteria. It has found that the germs are escherichia coli, accounting for 77.27% and β-streptococcus haemolyticus occupying, accounting for 13.64%;the others are staphylococcus and spore bacteria. It is demonstrated that escherichia coli is the main reason to cause the pyometra. E. coli is sensitive to kanamycin and neomycin. The sensitivity of each medicine reaches averagely to 100%.According to the clinical symptoms, blood test, imaging examination, and bacteria separation drug sensitive test results, 22 canines have been cured by different treatments. The conservative therapy have been taken in 6 cases, accounting for27.2%. 16 cases use surgical therapy, accounting for 72.73%. Up to now, ovarian uterus excision is the preferred method for the pyometra treatment. The conservative treatment such as uterine flushing could be taken on the basis of bacterial susceptibility test results, if the canines are for the breeding values or canines are too ill to have an operation.
