With the rapid development of social economy, the nature of many wild rare plants are frequently used in business, medicine and other various industries, Overcutting has resulted in a sharp decrease in variety and quantity, and some of them are even on the verge of extinction, which has seriously affected the ecological balance of nature.According to local geographical and climatic environment characteristics, local governments has built many gardens with high forest coverage, introduced rare tree species of certain categories, carefully planted and constructed ecological environment suitable for growth, and made a lot of research for the cultivation of these species, so as to actively save some endangered rare tree species.According to the application requirements of growing environment of ancient and famous trees in those gardens, in order to advance the research for vegetation growth characteristics, an environmental monitoring system based on the technology of Internet of things is designed in this paper, which is mainly composed of a sensing terminal, a concentrator and a monitoring center. The system can realize automatic acquisition of regional environment data with the help of multiple sensor terminal nodes differently located in the microenvironment and supporting power supply from solar energy. The data are wirelessly transmitted to the concentrator by the use of Zigbee networking. The realtime data package will be generated according to the custom data communication protocol, wirelessly transmitted to the monitoring center through GPRS and then processed, including staving, mining, setting and visualizing, thus realizing realtime monitoring for growing environment of ancient and famous trees.A large number of outdoor field tests show that the system designed in the paper can meet business need of practical application and that its monitoring system can effectively receive realtime environmental data acquired by the sensing equipment. Moreover, the system is of high effectiveness and reliableness and helpful to information management of the growth of ancient and famous trees, thus improving research efficiency. In the end, the author sums up the shortcomings of the research contents and further raises questions and suggestions for research.
