This thesis focused on qualitative and quantitive analyses of chemical compositions, and pharmacological activities of different Lilium and Pyrus spieces. Correlation analysis and PCA(principal component analysis) were utilized to investigate the bioactive components and evaluate the quality of different cultivars. This thesis was divided into three parts as followed:(1) We determined antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of 9 Lilium samples from different productive places nationwide, and HPLC and LC-MS were carried out to qualitatively and quantitively analyze 11 polyphenol and 2 saponins monomeric compounds. Correlation anaylysis results and PCA suggested that syringic acid and epicatechin were the bioactive compounds regarding antioxidant activity. Saponins, especially dioscin, were the main bioactive components regarding anti-inflammatory and sedative-hypnotic activities. The quality of Lilium samples was influenced by regional areas.(2) We determined antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of 16 pear peel and pulp samples from different productive places worldwide, and HPLC and LC-MS were carried out to qualitatively and quantitively analyze 9 polyphenol and 2 triterpene monomeric compounds. All the chemical components found in the peel were approximately 2 to 20 folds concentrated than those in the corresponding pulp, some monomeric compounds such as ursolic acid and oleanolic acid were hundreds folds concentrated than those in pulp. Correlation analysis and PCA were utilized to seek bioactive components. Chlorogenic acid, ferulic acid and rutin in pears were the main bioactive components regarding antioxidant activity. Anti-inflammatory activity was related to total phenolic acids and flavonoids. PCA results suggested that Zaosu pear, Qingpi pear, Yaguang pear cultivals had relatively better quality.(3) For the first time, this study delineated pear peel's anti-diabetic prospect of the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Yaguang pear, which contained higher contents of total phenolic acids(TPs) and total flavonoids(TFs), was selected for further ?-glucosidase inhibition assay, and hypoglycemic assay in streptozocin-induced type 2 diabetic mice to evaluate pear's anti-diabetic potential. Eleven monomeric compounds were seriatim examined for ?-glucosidase inhibitory activity to fish out anti-diabetic components(chlorogenic acid, vanillic acid, ferulic acid and rutin). This thesis clarified the chemical compositions and the substance basis of pharmacology, and also provided inforamtion for the further development of Lilium and Pyrus.
