Auspicious pattern in China has a long history as a traditional art form, it is widely used in all types of vessels. Auspicious pattern is an important category in Chinese traditional patterns, because of their special auspicious meaning, strong practicability, the characteristics of wide spread, it was deeply loved by masses of people. With the infiltration of mechanized production in modern social life, industrialized production mode makes the development of ceramics for daily use faster and faster, every day there are thousands of modern daily ceramics flowing into every big market from the production line. Ceramic is the main carrier for exhibition and Inheritance of auspicious patterns since ancient times, ceramic visual language cannot be detached from the auspicious patterns for decoration and ornament. there are no lack of decorative usage of Auspicious patterns in modern ceramic market, however, we have noticed that some of the ceramic decorations are just copies of auspicious pattern forms, making the product relatively rigid, even some decoration of auspicious patterns are out of modern people's aesthetic demand, it means that some designers lack of basic understanding of connotation and implied meaning of auspicious patterns and basic artistic form of expression, leading to the emptiness of the decorative design, resulting in a fuzzy expressive meaning of product theme. Therefore, in order to make the auspicious pattern in modern ceramic decoration design plays its reasonable decorate meaning role, designers must understand the evolution and development of Chinese auspicious patterns systematically, digging the deep cultural connotation of semantic and studying its rich variety of extension semantics of artistic expression, only in this way can make the application of auspicious patterns in modern ceramic more brilliant, can we carry forward the national excellent art culture.Auspicious pattern as a visual form, has its profound form semantic connotation and rich expression form for extensional semantics. This thesis aims at the problems in Auspicious patterns in modern design, using shape semantics analysis method, from the angle of configuration symbol cognition, analysis the form semantic connotation and extensional semantics of auspicious patterns in modern daily ceramics decorative design, which has guiding significance for the decorative use of Auspicious patterns in modern Ceramic use. Along with the progress of the society and the improvement of people's aesthetic standard, auspicious pattern has converted its form semantic in modern daily ceramic decoration to some extent., the essence of this evolution is Inheritance and innovation of auspicious patterns form semantic in modern ceramic decorative design, it also makes the use of auspicious patterns in modern ceramic decoration more flexible and vivid, and meet modern people's aesthetic demand more. Based on the above theoretical analysis, combined with the practice of my own investigation of the case, this thesis demonstrates the guiding meaning of this research of auspicious patterns in modern ceramic decorative design.This thesis just makes a primary research on shape semantics of the auspicious patterns in modern ceramic decoration design, a further in-depth study would be made in the future, it is hoped that auspicious patterns could provide certain theoretical help in decoration design of modern daily ceramics.
