China as comprehensive strategic partner of Russia, the two countries are becoming increasingly close. Their economic and cultural links are also becoming more and more rich and colorful. Recently, Russia's domestic Chinese teaching got more attention; the number of Chinese learners is increasing as well. But, given the fact that Chinese Characters writing system is different from Russian phonetic ideographic writing system, many Russian students face some difficulties when it comes to Chinese Characters learning, and now learning to understand and study them is still difficult due to the lack of appropriate methods and strategies. Therefore, this paper based on the author internship experience at "Siberia Federal University", through classroom observations, questionnaires and interviews of 89 elementary Chinese students. The results show that the average of Russian students 'Chinese characters learning strategies is around 3.3860, is in the middle level, the frequency of students using Chinese characters strategy is rather higher, can consciously use various strategies in learning so as to improve their learning efficiency. For all kinds of strategies the average scores from high to low in turn: induction strategy, review strategy, stroke strategy and application strategy. Friedman test shows that there are significant differences between the various strategies; it indicates that students of all kinds of strategies use frequency or preferences are significantly different.The variance analysis shows that gender, grade, behavior and the number of characters learned in Chinese does not have significant influence on the overall use, but the sub strategy test shows that the grade has significant effects on the shape, stroke, meaning and application strategies. Low grade students use shape strategy, stroke strategy, meaning strategy, senior and junior students much use application strategy, review strategy and monitoring strategy; character of inductive strategies has significant effects, neutral students are good at using inductive learning Chinese characters; the strategies of students learning foreign languages also stand for high frequency.The case study reveals that, student who succeeded in learning Chinese characters show a strong interest, pay attention to components of the characters, generalize the use of memory strategies and review vocabulary, often use to listen or watch, pay attention on characters review, as well as the learning process and also use meta cognitive strategy in their learning process; strategy application; Unsuccessful learners lack interests, rarely review Chinese characters, attach great importance to characters recognition and reading practice has very little to do with writing practice, basically do not use meta cognitive strategies. But whether it is successful or unsuccessful learners, they all attach great importance to the strategy based on pronunciation and meaning.
