This is a translation report on Chapter Five, An Educational Start-up of Building a Better Teacher, a professional book about education and teaching written by Elizabeth Green. Chapter Five intends to discuss the low quality of basic education and unfair problems, which have become the focus of the society and the government. Charter schools emerge as the times require with the help of education market. As a new type of school, they are expected to provide certain useful thoughts for education. The translation of this chapter can bring some insightful views and enlightenment to Chinese educators in their practical teaching situation, thus to guarantee the quality of class management.Generally speaking, this report can be divided into five parts. Part One is an introduction to the translation report covering the background, the content and the significance of the project. Part Two is the source text analysis, including the introduction of the author, the main content, the text type and the stylistic feature of the source text. Part Three elaborates translation theories and application, which mainly adopts the three rules of “skopos theory”, namely, skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule. Part Four demonstrates the translation difficulties and corresponding solutions. Part Five presents the inspirations and lessons for the translator as well as the unsolved questions. In order to deliver a qualified and satisfied report, the translator has made full preparation by reading and analyzing the original, and adopted various translation strategies and corresponding theories to solve the problem.
