This is a translation report on part 2 of the Cracking the Code: Girls' and Women's Education in Science,Technology,Engineering and Mathematics(STEM).The resource text is published by UNESCO in 2017.The article of source text(thereafter as ST)mainly demonstrates the comprehensive present situation of females' situation in science,technology,engineering and mathematics(thereafter as STEM)and provide interventions.The selected part finds out different factors that resulted in the situation and is of great practical significance.The translation report will do great help to popularize and spread gender equality and to remove gender stereotypes.It will contribute to help female's participation,progression and achievement in STEM areas and eliminate gender discrimination.In order to achieve the translation target and to help target language readers understand the article as close as the original readers do,this translation report will apply translation techniques of annotation,addition,sequence,and division under the guidance of the skopos theory to solve translation difficulties in specific words,idiomatic habit as well as long and complex sentences.This translation report consists of four parts.The first part gives introduction of the whole text and the significance of this translation project.The second part tells the theoretical foundation-the skopos theory,and presents text analysis from different aspects in order to make a better understanding of the chosen text.The third part contains translation difficulties and translation techniques.In the process of solving those translation difficulties,it demonstrates practical examples of target text(thereafter as TT)to make it clear that how the skopos theory is employed to help achieve translation goals.The last part is the conclusion which summarizes the whole project and puts forward potential problems.
