This is a translation project report on chapters thirteen, fourteen and chapter eighteen of Parenting with a Story: Real-Life Lessons in Character for Parents and Children to Share by Paul Smith about parenting and families. As parenting is becoming increasingly important, the author tries to provide help with enlightening stories and guide the direction. The three chapters are about positive attitude, dealing with loss and humility. In these three chapters, the main content is to shape a good character through story-telling.The main content of this report is divided into five parts. Part one is the introduction which includes background, significance and structure of the report. Part two is the research background which includes the profile of the author and brief introduction to source text, also, linguistic features of the report. Part three is about communicative translation theory and its application. Part four targets on the difficulties of translation and translation techniques, combined with examples. In part four, the translator summarizes the lessons learned by the translator and problems unsolved in this translation report.
