This is a translation project report on shaping character of children. The book Parenting with a Story: Real- Life Lessons in Character for Parents and Children to Share is written by Paul Smith. It collects stories from all walks of life all over the world, telling how they know about themselves in a detailed way. The book encourage us to become the one we want to be, which has a far-reaching effect. It's less common to see such an educational-style book in China.The book is also a team work under the guidance of our teacher, chapter seven to chapter nine chosen by the translator contains the lively samples about building confidence, be a man of grit and facing frustrations and troubles in life.The main contents of this report consist of four parts. Part One introduces the background information of the translation project and its significance; Part Two gives a brief introduction to author of the source text,its content and style and Newmark's Theory of Communicative Translation and Semantic Translation; The following Part Three illustrates difficulties in translation and some translation strategies with specific examples; The Last Part concludes with lessons and unsolved problems in the translation project.
