This is a project report on translation of Parenting with a Story:Real-life Lessons in Character for Parents and Children to Share(Chapter 4-5) written by Paul Smith. The original text is made up of 101 real life stories and 23 powerful characters gathered by people from all walks of life. This book brings a new sight into Chinese education. The translator thinks there are both shortcomings and excellence in Chinese education. The Chinese should discard the dross while assimilating the essence of the western education and combine the essences of both education. Therefore, a Chinese version of this book will contribute to a better Chinese education. This report will be divided into five parts. Part one is an overall introduction to the translation report, including background, significance and the structure of the translation report. Part two is about brief introduction and analysis of the translation project and author profile. Part three focuses on Nida's theory of equivalence as a guiding theory for the project. Part four involves translation difficulties, such as long sentences, proper nouns and corresponding strategies. Part five is a conclusion for the translation report, experiences and enlightenment as well as unsolved problems.
