A Report On The E-C Translation Of Bangladesh Dam Project

With the increasingly close relationship between the international exchanges,exchanges and cooperation between China and Bangladesh have also deepened recent years.China and Bangladesh established a strategic partnership with each other in 2016.However,before this,the two sides have had co-operations in various fields.In particular,Bangladesh's contracting market,many Chinese enterprises participated in the bidding and win in Bangladesh's contracting market.Recent years the Chinese enterprises carry out the contract engineering business in Bangladesh for nearly 50 enterprises,among them,the state-owned enterprises accounted for majority,and the central enterprises dominated the local enterprises development is also more rapid.This translation report is based on author internship program experience and according as Eugene Nida's functional equivalence theory,the author sets the hydraulic engineering text as an example,discusses the encountered problems and difficulties under the guidance of translation practice in order to further improve the degree of attention to such text and improve its translation quality.The translation work consists of five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which introduces the background information of the cooperation between China and Bangladesh,describes the great prospects and social needs of the Chinese translation of such projects,the literature review and the purpose and its significance.The second chapter is the description of the translation task,mainly describes in the following three parts,the first part is the content of the material,this translation is bidding document about Bangladesh coastal embankment reconstruction project,the author selects one of the parts as the translation material,the second part is about the analysis of the characteristics of the text type of the material under the help of Newmark's theory,the third part is about the requirements of the client,which is a brief introduction to the translator's translation of the material.The third chapter is the description of the translation process,first of all,the translator has done a lot of preparatory work,such as the search of background materials,the selection of books and translation tools,the application of translation theory,translation strategies and the selection of parallel texts,secondly,the translation of the material of the initial translation,re-translation,the first draft of the revised,finalized translation and so on.The fourth chapter is the case analysis,through the translation practice,the translator combined examples from the first translation problems and solutions,such as terminology translation,modal verb translation,translation of abbreviations and the obvious translation traces in the beginning,lexical translation,sentence translation todiscourse translation analyzing this text in the above four aspects.The last chapter is a conclusion of the translation report,the author draws a brief conclusion of the thesis,provides clear solutions to some problems occurred in translation.From the perspective of the translator,the author puts forward her own understanding of the translation of the text in the future.The report is based on the previous research theories and methods,applying the existing translation methods of the application of translation methods drawn by translation experts,the translator combines these two together,then puts into practice of the translation of hydraulic engineering text,and through the use of the strategy methods to further deepen the understanding of this kind of translation,but also lay the solid foundation of translation practice of such texts in the future.
